I spent some time reading through parts 1, 2 & 3 of this GN, going over the framework in which the "apology" is set. Seems like a monumental effort at damage control 20 years after the fact.
One wonders whether P&M would have put this much effort into putting their spin on TF's history if there hadn't been so much pushback from survivors and bad press following Rick's murder/suicide.
Wonder what's going on internally that P&M felt the need to formalize an "apology" three years after Rick's death? The perspective Peter brings to the facts of Family history is interesting: He views the past 39 years of the movement as a monumental achievement. Well, he sure missed his calling as a sales rep for sandcastles in the Sahara. Over 100,000 souls won through FFing, he proclaims. How can anyone other than a con man claim to know something like that? Assuming there is such a thing as eternal salvation of the soul, only God would know who's got a ticket on that ride. Should we choose to believe in the ride, the best mortals can do is hope we have a ticket.
Kudos on your effort to pin WS down on the official year in which child-adult sexual interaction was banned. Seems safe to say it occurred some time between 1986 and 1989. Which didn't do much to help Mene, since the record of her rape & torture at the hands of Berg, Maria & Peter occurred during that same time period. It also didn't do much to help Rick, since he was incested by his mother in that same time frame.
