It was a very moving book. I couldn't put it down once I started reading. Since I'm very familiar with a lot of the history that the book covers, I wondered how it read for someone who knew nothing about TFI before picking it up?

The good news is that the worst things the sisters endured while growing up have largely been stopped. Many people who grew up in the sisters' generation still have younger siblings living in TFI homes. Although kids growing up in TFI homes remain at a high risk for sexual and physical abuse, it's no longer openly practiced and preached as doctrine. This change came about to some extent because so many survivors have spoken out. Still, there are many kids growing up in TFI without an adequate education. It's also difficult to tell how many still get harsh physical discipline for stuff like bedwetting or for being kids who'd rather play than beg on the streets for donations.
