If we ignore the slight inaccuracies in the dates, and the convenient scape-goating of Berg, who is dead and can no longer be prosecuted; if we ignore the fact that current leaders are also responsible for what happened, then this statement, by itself, is quite pretty.
This statement, together with actual willingness to pay for what has happened (damages and monetary compensation + jail time for offenders) would be beautiful.
This statement, along with admission of fault for the host of other issues besides this, would be a dream come true.
But this statement, alongside other statements made by spokespersons where they label the latest exposés (about the very same crimes they just referred to) as exaggerations, lies, bitterness, etc., it just doesn't work for me.
I'll buy it easier when they go for the full set and retract those statements lambasting anyone who dares speak up against them and what happened.
This statement, when taken in context with the other statements they're giving alongside, just seems so insincere, part and parcel of damage control.
