I need more time to study fully your article as it is very lengthy...I admit, that I haven't read Dr. Ch. book, but read some of his interviews & articles about TF on certain websites.It's some time ago, but I had the impression, he saw TF too much through pink glasses & he himself confessed, that collegues warned him of the true nature of TF, after all, there are many surviews of experts on sects on the web or in book format...of all these critics with Christian background, he happens to be the most benevolent.
Here's a part of Dr.Ch. which is worthy may be some discussion or thought:
I do not believe Mr. B.... attack on my work is malicious. Though I do not know him and have not spoken with him, I would suspect he is most troubled not by what I leave out, but what I put in, that I include anything that reflects positively about the Family experience. Does he believe that there is absolutely nothing positive to say about the Family? Or does he believe that the Family is so evil that whatever might be positive is best ignored? These are important questions, the answers to which may shed light on why some former Family members see me as an “apologist,” yet I think that in my book I exposed a great deal of the darker side of the Family.
What has been positve in those days we were in, that we thought to stay against many odds & it wasn't always "fear", as far as I recall...I take the responsibility in saying, that I stayed too long, also because I "liked" a certain way of life and thank G.. it has nothing to do with abusing sexually minors or anyone else for that matter...
I fully agree with you, that TF doesn't regard the nucleus of the "little family" and that needs much correction/mentioning....that happens to be one of my main "beefs" with TF...destroying that purposely...and sorry to mention that, but that happens to be totally unchristian...it's totally opposite of the NT's message. I wholehartedly agree on that important point with you.
By the way, I cannot see that you thought/insinuated Dr.Ch to be on the payroll of TF as much as Dr.Melton, that is reading things between the lines...that'd be total speculation...though possible to think that way, I never really gave it any thought...
It could be, that, as he says, his book got to befairly short, also due to the publishing house...
nevertheless I think it should be the duty to warn of TF....the good TF does is the deceptive bait, which could even fool someone as Dr.Ch (and us in the old days)...I assume.
The SGAs were anyway never very happy about his work (including Jules) & that should make him
think it over twice, especially since few of the very first SGAs seem to be left...if at all...
