After reading the thread below concerning the problems exmembers face from having their identities googled and making gainful employment difficult (as well as related problems for their whole family trying to repair their damaged lives), I was wondering if the coordinators might consider opening a dialogue off line to better explore how the situation aftects not just the parents, but also kids and grandkids. Perhaps in such a dialogue some path forward that would promote healing could be found.
At least it seems that a more complete understanding of the situation might help those responsible consider all angles. Life can be tough under any circumstances. For families who have faced up to their past and are trying their utmost to repair what is within their power to repair, life is more complex still. FG's who decide to stay in, and maintain their "respected positions" within the cult don't face these issues. But those who finally hear the voice of conscience and try to move on do.
It is just a suggestion. But I left the group long ago with a large family mainly because I was concerned about my children's future. It was incredibly tough for us all. I'm not whining. I did make some foolish choices, and have paid with many lost opportunities and limits on my life after leaving. If I was haunted by google searches etc. I do not see how I could have made any progress towards helping my kids have a better shot at life. If I was without dependents, it would have been different. But most parents of large families who try to start over for their kid's sakes, well, it is all about the kids. That is all that really matters to most, I would think.
Thanks for listening.
