"People are asking how ex-member leaders and/or abusers can supress the online information of their deeds."
The use of "people" and "their" is non-specific, especially in the English language, and the use of "and/or" invites even more questions. To get it straight, as it does make a difference to me:
1. Are you saying people who are not leaders and/or abusers themselves are asking how to supress information for those who were leaders and/or abusers?
Or
2. Are you saying people who are leaders and/or abusers are asking to have their own information supressed?
And
3. Should we not distinguish between leaders and abusers, as leaders are not automatically in the category of sick abusers, and some abusers were never leaders?
As for point 1, I think so far this has only been happening where SG's are asking to have their parents information removed. That's understandable. But it's not like there is a general sentiment that everyone wants to let abusers move on, which could be construed from your sentence. And from other things you've written it could also be construed that FG's want to let FG's move on more than SG's would.
As for point 2, that is something the coordinator mentioned was happening, and I am more skeptical about letting abusers off the hook that easily. Leaders? Well it depends on their rank and deeds.
On point 3, I would say that leaders who were not abusers if they came to clear their own name, it's likely we'd let them move on much easier. Abusers on the other hand, would have a lot more to answer to than complaining "hey you guys are stopping me from getting a job!" There are networks in the real world to keep people informed when convicted sexual predators move into their neighborhoods. Walk down that road and a perp should face the consequences.
Then I would add another point on the abuses that happened. Like thinker says we all have skeletons in our closet to some degree, should we then distinguish between those who were trying to be revolutionary and did something once and regretted it, and those who were really into it and using their position to prey on the helpless.
Then we come back to the question, who are we to judge? I say regardless of whether it's our place to judge or not, people who want their names cleared up should face their victims, if not here then somewhere else.
