I agree for the most part with what Joanne said, and as one of the more "seeking justice"-oriented second generationers, I dare say that most 2nd gen survivors would likely to turn a page if, as Jo anne put it, "I were given the opportunity, and were convinced of their sincerity".
I think this is somewhat different from what "Thinker" advocates in the repost above. However, I really believe some 1st generationers underestimate (a) the willingness of 2nd generationers to come to an understanding, but also (b) the dearth of amends from the guilty parties in each of our lives. As Joanne noted, many "1st gen's that have a lot of explaining to do and they remain silent. Whether in or out of TF."
Oddly (or not) I guess that some of the 1st generationers most vocal about "forgiving and forgetting" may have less on their conscience about which to give account. But please realize what you are asking from 2nd generationers who have not even had a shadow of amends and are still suffering (which you may think we are weak for, so be it). Often from people who showed the weak (as only the hepless can see) real sadism and monstruosity.
I think a "TRC" (or, yes, a Nuremberg for the worst criminals, not necessarily those who just turned a blind eye -- but hey, even just TRC would be great) would be HUGE progress. But as far as I can tell, and from prior responses on this board, it is just being thrown out there as a concept nobody thinks will ever happen, as an adjunct with exhortations to forgive and forget.
