It's funny, but TF cliche that you reacted to "you blew it" is now followed, down the thread by you, with another TF cliche when you say it's the "hit dog that howls". Probably we all react with sayings or things that come from that past which were used in excess in TF but also in society at large in it's day and now, after it's day survivors sometimes use them.
We were all affected.
For most 1G, the family was far far far from "Utopia". The hook was "Utopia" but the reality was something entirely different and the 1st line of recruits were not drawn in by sex.
Only a handful knew what Berg was about but many of them were plundered emotionally, physically and spiritually as well. The draw was not the glorious standard of living which was spartan at best. Well, except for Berg and top leadership that lived quite lavishly by comparison.
But that was hidden early on and not so lavish as later because the money was not rolling in as well as when pimp daddy davie started turning 1G women out to prostitute for jesus.
Was that "Utopia"? Even "systemite" pimps (lol, that sounds weird) took better care of their whores making sure they got better medical care. Berg said "save the body not the soul" and don't quit FFing to get well or to avoid disease. What a beast that bastard was. I knew women that fell out on the street and ended up in ER's from untreated STD's. Good thing it wasn't a third world country where they might have been discarded and left to die on the side of a road.
So, I'll buy the book, and I'll celebrate for every "G" that heals and moves on. Yeah, part of that healing is people facing their past and cleaning up any of it that needs to be. For some, it would be nice if they could face people they harmed and be judged. It's good for the soul, all the way around.
Will it happen? For many it probably won't. For some, it already has. I seriously doubt the really bad grammas and grampas will ever post at ex member boards. Probably aren't allowed to, or if out now, can't stand to read them. Too painful or for some too scary.
But for most that left, we all deserve life after death.
High fives to the sisters and their new book and it's success. Maybe you have a story you want to tell? Maybe you want support to get help at a place where people well versed in cults can help you. Montel made a generalized offer. Has anyone taken it up?
I'd hope someone.
