It sounds like you haven't read the book Zzzz, or you wouldn't be asking questions that have been answered in the book.
It also sounds like you don't find anyone's stories authentic unless they suffer some kind of permanent damage. If everybody who ever went through a difficult childhood could not be expected to overcome it and become successful, then there would be no such success stories in the world, nor would they be in any way remarkable. The sisters wrote their story because although they suffered what they did, they found the strength to overcome and make something positive of their lives. THat is the whole point!
If you read the book, you would know why it has been so difficult for the second generation to press charges; you would also know that they have set up an organisation to do just that! The point of the book was to set the record straight from the viewpoint of the second generation who experienced things very different from their parents who joined. What was the first generation's utopia was the second's nightmare.
It does sound like you either have jealousy issues, or something you read, if indeed you read it, hit home. Remember, it's the hit dog that howls!
