Yes, and then Maria turns around and says she doesn't want people to get the wrong idea that molesting children was wrong. So obviously it didn't stop. That degree of molestation just couldn't be widespread doctrine anymore.
The number one concern for change of doctrine is not that it is wrong but that for securitys' sake they can't be so blatant because of the laws of the land in most of the world. Even third world countries that used to advocate for marrying off small children or turning them out to prostitution are passing laws to prevent it from happening. That was surely Berg's attraction to certain areas of the third world in his day: The lack of legal consequences for molesting children in some of those countries.
I guess Maria doesn't realize that a little 'godly fondling' is very damaging to children and it is still sexual abuse, not to mention what it does to kids emotionally/mentally/spiritually.
