Have you actually read Teilhard de Chardin's Phenomenon of Man? I read it back in my Cat'lick days. De Chardin was a biologist turned philospher, and the way this stuff was presented to me by a Jesuit with a PhD in philosophy, the more "dense" (incomprehensible) the language, the better--because the work is more challenging. As an English major (at the time), I thought that premise was absolute BS. Clear thinking leads to clarity in one's writing; muddled thinking leads to density and incomprehensibility.
