Doesn't Australia have some provision for the collection of back child support for the time before the child turned 18?
Not sure how it works there but in the U.S., unpaid child support can be collected long after the child turns 18. For example, if a parent was ordered by a court to pay a certain amount per month and never paid a dime, he would still owe it after the child turned 18. They don't get off the hook automatically when the child becomes an adult and often still owe the money not only to the parent who took care of the child but also government agencies which paid welfare benefits.
