I don't doubt at all that many on the bus are sincere believers thinking what they are doing is a great thing and that any criticism is undue persecution.
At the same time, I think that was true with people who joined when the whole thing started. There was a blind obedience to something that appeared to be right and good.
For first generation youth, there were riots in Watts and turmoil in the USA between races, the war in Viet Nam, and the family had the "warning tract" and utilized the fear factor to keep people 'on their toes'. That generation was supposed to be the "last generation". It wasn't any different than current history where people believe they are getting their final keys in preparation for end time doom and gloom.
TF even utilizes some of the same songs and skits that worked for the first generation youth and now the prophet bus thing.
Do you think the family is genuinely safer now? Was it ever r e a l l y safe?
