With my therapist I usually refer to the cult period as the hijacking. It was as if I got on a plane to go somewhere and the plane was hijacked along the way, and that plane was my life. I was a teen then. When I reemerged from the hijacking I was in my 30's.
I can relate to a lot of these stories. Some of us experienced sex under duress or even rape, among other things, since very young (practically underage) under the pretext that God wanted that. I can definitely resonate with young people whose lives were hijacked in some way or another.
