Last night I watched a fascinating documentary called The Jet Propelled Anti-Christ. It's about a guy named Jack Parsons who was one of the early pioneers of rocket technology. What was most fascinating is that this guy was into occultism and became a devotee of Aleister Crowley, who in his time was called the wickedest man in the world. Parsons called Crowley father, and many of the occult rituals they were involved in included sexual aspects, so that Crowley was accused of leading a sex cult.
Later, Parsons became friends with Ron Hubbard, who eventually conned Parsons out of a substantial amount of money and stole Parsons wife, eventually marrying her. He later claimed that he had rescued her from a dangerous cult! Talk about irony. The program also exposed other aspects of Hubbard's early beginnings as a con man.
I found it fascinating that there was this link between two of the more notorious cults that arose in the 20th century, not to mention the similarites to Berg and TF.
