Good for you. I did the CELTA 5 years ago and I've been in teaching EFL ever since. In fact I like teaching so much, and I had such a good memories from doing the CELTA, I decided to do the diploma course. (Take note: Don't type in the acronym for the Diploma course here, because the webstite's automatic anti-spam defenses automatically get you banned. I found out the hard way because a couple of weeks ago I tried to type in the acronym for it in response to a post from your sister who had mentioned that you were doing a language teacher training course. Fortunately when I emailed the webmaster he immediately unbanned me. There are certain acronyms and other words that trigger the anti-spam program, and that is one of them.)
So subsitute a "D" for the "C" in CELTA, that's the name of the course I took. It gave me the opportunity to spend the month of July and August last summer studying at the International House in the lovely mediterranean city of Barcelona. I didn't have much time to enjoy the sights and sounds of the place but in spite of the intensity of the course it was more than worth it.
Some of the teachers in the course with me came from teaching jobs in Asia. There was a guy from Manchester who teaches at the British Council in Hong Kong, a Canandian girl who teaches at a University in Seoul, and a Singaporian girl who teaches English in Shanghai.
They are happy with the jobs they have, maybe Taiwan is similar. I could tell you what it's like to work in W. Europe, it's the only place I've been in English teaching so far.
