In the Spring of '72 I went thru an interesting episode w/tf. I'd been w/tf about a year, and my wisdom teeth started to bother me. I was a Viet Nam vet, so I was eligble to go to the VA hospital (in New Orleans)-- Free. So, the Shepherd, Silas, advised me to do whatever I felt I had the faith to do. So, I went to the VA, they pulled 'em out, and the next morning I woke up and my head was as big as a basketball!! I had gotten infected! I went back into the VA for three days, on IV's, and meds., etc. I had fun talking to folks and witnessing in the hospital, and back at the colony nobody ever condemned me or dissed me at all.(Long time ago!). I must say, that in those days, Silas and Sharon, the couple shepherding the colony in N.O., were the best thing that could have ever happened to me. As a burned-out vet-druggie-dirtbag-wanderer, they really took me under their wings and showed me a lot of love. That summer I went to Europe, as we were instructed, but I have always had the best memories of the time in N.O. with Silas and Sharon.
