good ole Charlie - ever the colorful writer. Sounds like things are going good for you. Except for your knee and strep throat of course. Sounds like Fran is having a great time out and about. Good for her. And your prodigal son came home - what else could you ask for?
We had some interesting animal and bird encounters too. An owl got stuck behind our insert in the fireplace somehow. He either came through the chimney or else he followed a burrowing ground squirrel and then got stuck? We don't know, but he was scratching and woo-wooing for 2 nights! Spooked me for sure. I told Bob, there is an animal stuck in that insert and he's gonna die if we don't get him out. Both guys (son and dad) stood there dumbfounded. I took action and opened both flues, top and bottom, and we went to bed. Five minutes later, son is calling out for mom and dad because an owl was flying around the kitchen. Bob got it with a towel and it just looked at us with its huge yellow eyes, kind of like, thank you. We let it go outside, it sat on the fence for awhile and then flew away. When they came to clean out the chimney, they found a dead owl in there, so they must have been mating or something. They put up a wire cage at the top so no more animals will get in through the chimney.
So, we're doing good. Both working, me on and off. When I'm off, I dig into my family geneology - fascinating. Good to talk to you again.
