I've done this a lot in the past, for a number of different reasons. I don't do it much at all any more because I've gotten to know and trust people. I've also gotten to where I can figure out who some people are regardless of the handle they use.
I agree that having multiple online personalities is wierd. So here's the truth about me: I can be downright wierd. But I try to be honest, and if one of my characters seems to be causing confusion or problems, I ban her from the website. Sometimes I just want to have fun looking & talking about a topic from several different perspectives. With one exception, I haven't posted under another handle on this site for quite some time.
