It is not accurate to say there was no factual basis for the accusations against Abi. Unfortunately, whatever factual basis existed wasn't good enough to build a case that could be successfully prosecuted in the British court system. It may be that her accuser refused to testify in court, because, Oh, I dunno, perhaps the accuser received threats from someone sympathetic to TFI? Or maybe the police weren't able to sufficiently substantiate the accuser(s) complaints? That doesn't mean there was no basis in fact, only that there isn't enough evidence to proceed with a prosecution.
Do the British police REALLY arrest people and charge them with a crime as a routine procedural step associated with conducting an investigation? If that's true, I can see why the U.S. colonies revolted in 1776 and passed the IV and V Amendments to the Constitution!
