Ya, I had read that. His experiences as a child in the TF were limited so that he may not have been the victim of dogma like so many other children and adolescents. However, it's just too bad, imo, that he chooses to fight for the rights of dogs instead of children in HDOs, especially since he was once part of that cohort.
To be fair, perhaps it just has never occurred to him and all he needs is for some one to ask him. However, I'm quite cynical and though I love animals too, it seems to me that animal rights is a far more "sexy" and popular cause for celebrities to use to increase their star status than is fighting for the rights of children in cults.
