Regarding your last sentence, both Activated and FCF are 501(c)3 exempt organizations.
Activated has been more honest about its connection to TF than FCF. However, this increased honesty is not apparent in its form 1023 application for exemption and its annual 990 returns. Many believe that its application for exemption, like that of FCF, contains false statements and/or material ommissions of fact designed to deceive and mislead the public and the IRS. So, while Activated may not be lying to the public about its connection to TF, it may have lied to the IRS.
It also is readily apparent that if it had been required to fill out the revised (in 2004) 1023 form instead of the earlier one, it would have been required to disclose its "close connection" to TF.
