I do research for a living, and some of my time is spent reading and studying crime libraries.
For the ones who can't sleep at night, or do have the time, I suggest reading about two emblematic cultic abuse cases that occurred in California, both about 'a Family.'
The stories are compelling in that they raise many questions about the mechanisms that create damaging group behavior, and how severely insane that process can get in a given group. The details are appalling, yet familiar in a way.
The issues of collective versus individual responsibilities comes to the fore again, leaving many questions unanswered. One of these questions is HOW can these things actually happen? How can they be prevented before there are survivors who know better?
Here are the links - two stories about homes of horror, and the "insanity of place." It made me think a lot about much of what I have lived and seen in TF.
