I actually find quite interesting the double standard thing you mention. I do have a problem with violent outbursts of women, having been in the receiving end of them more than once.
I wonder if I too have a double standard because I can't stomach threats of any kind but men seem to me less less prone to be verbal abusive in general. So when they (us) get to that point, they (us) may be doing it just to emphasize that the verbal abuse they are receiving has crossed the line. Women are notorious for being very verbally abusive and their abuse knows no boundaries.
