I wasn't aware I was supporting Peters. I support the work he does as a matter of principle. I think it's important not to lose sight of the plight of the North Koreans while we debate the ritual purity of Tim Peters, aka servant of God. I'm not sure that I agree with Observer that there are hundreds of other people with legitimate NGOs who could step in tomorrow and fill Tim's shoes. Peters clearly has some serious connections and a functioning underground network. The fact is, smuggling people out of North Korea is a shadey business. I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't leveraging favors from corrupt officials through the dedicated services of an FFer--which might explain his reluctance to cut his ties with TFI. Do I condone those tactics? No. I'm just trying to get my head wrapped around the reality of who this guy Peters is, not who I wish he were.
