I like what Moonshiner said too: I don't expect any reward, award or glory. I just do it because its the right thing to do.
That's how I feel. I recently heard from a friend about a situation in a third-world country where a young mother had died. The woman's three young children ended up in the care of her very poor parents. I had a bit of extra cash so decided to give to the grandparents to help them care for the orphans.
Am I glad I did! I later heard back that one of the children was a three-month old baby but the grandparents were so poor they had no money to buy the baby milk. I had no idea of how desperate the need was at the time I gave & I can't tell you how moved I was to learn that I'd done the right thing. That knowledge was my greatest reward.
Like Moonshiner said, the Family always has the cameras on hand to take photos for their fundraising brochures every time they do some 'good deed.' I don't doubt that some sincere Family members are doing good for good motives, but they're unfortunately part of that 'Family system' with all its hypocrisy, false motives, ripping off doners, etc. You know, provisioning tons of stuff for 'the poor' then keeping the best of the donations for their own Homes, justifying it that 'we are the poor.'
