Jewlz, I think that's so cool what you said about tasting the honeycomb! I read a book a while ago about a lady who wanted to get into beekeeping -- very good reading... I forgot the name/author, but I'll find out and get it to ya. If you ever wanted to get more into it, most beekeepers are pretty cool about sharing, and if you could find one in your area and let him know you'd be willing to trade a little help for the experience and education, you might find it really rewarding. It's about the neatest hobby I've ever had!
About the basket weaving... I really miss that, as now I live in the North and haven't done that for awhile. It helped me so much over the years I could write a book! The kind of baskets I wove were made from coconut palm fronds, which are only found in the tropical kind of areas, which I love anyway. I would climb a palm, cut a frond, and then cut and weave sections into hats and baskets. Usually on beaches, piers, and places where tourists would be "Touring". When I first saw a guy weaving a hat it totally blew me away! And it only took him about half an hout to put it together. And I KNEW I was going to do that. It took about a week, and I kinda had it, and would be on the beach just trying to perfect it all, and tourists would come up to me and want to buy my baskets (Even tho, in the beginning they looked like shit!). Well, being the slow thinker that I am, it took awhile before I realized that if I could sell a couple baskets, I could buy a six-pack of beer and stay another day in the campground! So, a two week visit turned into a 22 yr. lifestyle. But after coming out of Vietnam, and then a couple yrs. of the cult, I was so screwed-up, there was no way I could work, like, at a "Regular" job, let alone have anything to do with "Regular" society. And it all helped me so much with dealing with other people, as it wasn't like I had to "Sell" 'em, it was more like I could just be somewhere weaving and let people buy them -- almost like a performing art. I really believe someday, before too long I'm going to be doing that again. Lately I've been really leaning toward going to Cuba. Anyway, we'll see...ya never know... talk to ya later, love ya, mark
