Unless I missed something, the article doesn't say a word about TFI, so it's hard to say how much free publicity they really got. TFI can claim Helping Hands and Tim Peters as one of their own, but they'll have to make the connection, because the article doesn't.
I don't know Tim Peters--he might be a total jerk who has a record of perpetrating on children and adolescents--but a quick search of xfamily and MO didn't turn up any allegations against him. If he has some skeletons in his closet, his high visibility will no doubt turn up an accusor. In the meantime, at least one source at MO is claiming Peters is out of TFI. Once again, his high visibility may result in an answer to the question of his affiliations.
All that aside, let's imagine that Peters is really doing what the article claims. It isn't TFI's operational mode to actually do something of substance in the social justice arena. I also wonder how Peters got away with speaking from the pulpit of a Prebyterian church in Korea if he's still strongly identified as a Family member. Or why the article didn't mention his affiliatin with the Family. Point is, I can't imagine TFI's pathologically controlling leadership would allow Peters to operate a ministry in the manner described in the article and get away with it for very long. Shouldn't he be at home jerking off to Jesus or out selling subscriptions to Activated and hawking tapes?
