modern medicine

Posted by porceleindoll on February 23, 2006 at 17:54:26

It's a really hot topic, condering the debate below, about using modern medicine or natural medicine or just pure faith alone to cure onesself of disease. I think the majority of ex-members prefer the modern medical path due to living in TFI for so long and not using any medication, and seeing people die because of it.

I just want to point out that the most important thing is to study what your options are, to educate yourself on the illness and what sort of medical treatments are available either with allopathic or natural medicine, and choose what suits you and what you feel is right for you.

What sort of path you take is entirely your own choice, noone can make it for you. And so it's up to you to be educated on that choice and know what you're getting into.

The mistake the Family made was to not allow us to educate ourselves and make that personal decision, it was laid out for us, and any sort of medicine wasn't even encouraged. This was stupidity, to make people feel guilty for not taking care of their health in any other way than prayer.

Personally I choose natural medicine over modern, simply because I've devoted a lot of time to it and feel confident that in almost all instances it would work, providing I have the right ingredients for the sickness. But, I strongly believe doctors have their place, esp. in diagnosis and to help get an illness under control until you can start to deal with it naturally.

I got a really bad infection in 2004 and had no choice but to go to the clinic and get anti-biotics, but after 3 days of taking the medicine I felt my body was on its way to recovery, and I switched over to a natural regime. This was the first time in 20 years I had even been to a doctor for illness.

My main point is that whatever way people choose to go is personal but I believe it must be an educated choice, and not done quickly or rashly or on the spur of the moment.

And the greatest medicine is prevention and upkeep of the body so that it will be strong enough to ward off illness.
