"his forcefully-worded statements are upsetting to several posters"
"quite a number of posters have come out & frankly stated that they take medications to help them cope with cult-related trauma or other physical illnesses."
I would add that the posters who have objected most strongly to Daniel's approach here represent a broad spectrum of former members of both generations, believers and unbelievers. What I deeply resent is his insistent, obnoxious insinuations that because we have chosen to get necessary help from the medical system that this somehow means we have merely exchanged our cult mentality with a "system" mentality, whatever that means. This is extremely insulting, as every exer I have communicated with is just the opposite of what Daniel accuses of. After the horrendous cult experience most if not all of us are extremely cautious, skeptical and always on guard against charlatans, and snake-oil salesmen, whether they're in the medical system or not.
He tries to make it seem as if we are uninformed about our own medical issues, and that he needs to "save" us from ourselves and the evils of the medical system with his superior knowledge. We are, in fact, the opposite of what Daniel claims we are as we now have the freedom to think critically and think for ourselves. We don't need any help from someone who himself seems to live in a black and white world.
The only good to come out of his postings here is that the vast majority of respondents have challenged his ideas and in the process provided much more useful information than anything in his posts, which contained nothing we didn't already know.
