I’ve been reading following much of this discussion and it’s been very interesting. I wanted to ask Dan a question regarding the story of your mom regarding her doctors diagnose.
Did she get a second opinion or third?
Not all doctors are equal in their experience and some rely more on medication and treatment then others. Also many are higher qualified and specialized in certain illnesses. It’s extremely important before taking any type of serious medication that you research it yourself and get different opinions before deciding.
For example my sister went to a doctor once for weight loss, stomach and backaches and dizziness. The first doctor who was general doctor told her it was her posture and spinal and that her dizziness and other symptoms which were similar to mono were from the beginning of a flu (which at the time was hitting our area) and her stomach aches from chewing so much gum on an empty stomach and bad eating habits. Her fainting in the bath tub was a result of the water being to hot.
Knowing her own body she knew it was more and decided to see a better doctor who then thought she had something else more serious like a virus in her blood and recommended her to another doctor a specialist. That doctor began immediately asking more appropriate questions and decided to run some more blood test and stool test. She asked if she had been to Mexico lately and had drunken anything there. We had been there a few times and were there two weeks prior but had not drank any water or juice but just beer bottle water and tequila (we are always cautious of what we drink there). Almost immediately she knew what she was looking for.
After the test came back it turns out she a not one but two rare parasites in her bloodstream that actually survive in the tequila there. The parasites feed on your red blood cells making you faint, tired and dizzy. The eventually move to your stomach and begin feeding on the tissue causing the stomachaches. The can be fatal if not treated. They microscopic and cannot be seen in a regular blood test which is why they were missed before.
After being prescribed the medication we looked it up and read everything we could about it on line and even asked another doctor about it. She ended up taking the medication, which leaves this horrible metal taste in your mouth the entire time. But after the two weeks she went back and the test were negative and she felt great.
I know it’s not the same as cancer, or depression but the rules still apply.
In another example quite the opposite, my husbands mother a young FGA died last year of cancer. She was in the family and after seeing doctors and diagnosed with cancer she was encouraged to deal with it by faith. To make a long story short (as we all know what “by faith” means) after being in so much pain for months she decided to leave the family and come to the Usa (she was in Slovakia ) to see her sisters who took her to a real doctor. They were horrified at her condition and explained that most of the extreme pain and swelling was due to blood clots. After giving her some simple blood thinning medication her swelling went down considerably. She could have been without all the extreme pain if they had just let her go. The doctors explained that because of this blood clotting they couldn’t even give her the medication for he cancer because it had been untreated for so long and extremely progressed.
There wasn’t much they could do for her at that point. They could at least relieve her pain so that she could die pain free. It was a horrible experience and my husband went to see her a week before she died where she denounced the family and all their doctrines and explained how she had been begging to go to the USA to get treatment but was kept there. Eventually her husband had let her go and put her on a plane alone stating he needed to stay with the kids. He didn’t even attend her funeral the family didn’t even offer any contributions to her funeral after her almost 30 some years of service. Her son and sisters who hadn’t seen her in decades took care of all the arrangements, he believes they killed his mom and let her live months in agonizing pain when she could have been treated.
And then they wonder what creates the hatred that creates “monsters” and “murders” like Ricky.
