I think I understand where you are coming from but I also think it is easy to misunderstand with text only.
About craving death, for some of us a number of years in TF has left us with that craving. That is one of the reasons why some seek help or relief in different ways, some more extreme than others, suicide being one of them. Some people have stated they felt they already died.
I would also like to remind you of the fact that in TF mental illness was even more stigmatized than in this society at large. TF had exorcisms and constructed mental illness where there was none. When help was needed people were instead demonized. This is very common in some fundamentalist settings. I won't delve into the long list of people who were demonized, killed, burned at the stake for telling the truth or for needing help they never got.
The plight of the "mentally ill" (even this expression is so very inane, because it covers such a vast range of conditions) is also due to the strong stigmatization - if you have diabetes or a thyroid disorder nobody would think there is something wrong with you for needing insulin or the appropriate hormone replacements. While I understand your concerns I doubt you are helping relieve the stigma in the way you are framing your questions.
