This why I remain skeptical of what I read. I even suspect of what I experience because my senses have hid uncomfortable truths many times. My normal moral yardstick has been, if I reverse the situation and I am at the other end, will it work for me? Would I think the same? Obviously, the culture of the day is gang-like and we join the lynching crowd - but it has been that way since we left paradise... The book on this subject would be called "The cruelty of the merciful".
