Exactly my point. I came from a family where there was no religion at all. A lot of the Family culture was American culture and I always assumed that it was just the Family as I had never been to the States or had a religious upbringing. I'm not saying that its American culture to sexually abuse children. Its the stuff that most Americans wouldnt even notice.
