Speaking of cults, anyone see the recent South Park episode about Scientology? A personality test reveals that Kyle is the reincarnation of L. Ron Hubbard. That prompts a visit from Tom Cruise, but when Kyle/Hubbard tells him that he thinks that the guy from Napolean Dynamite is a better actor crybaby Cruise, the couch-jumping psychiatry expert, hides in the kid's closet and refuses to come out.
The episode mocks Scientology doctrine that 75 billion years ago an evil galactic emporer named Xenu set off H-bombs in Earth's volcanoes and then proceeded to use a giant vacuum to suck up the souls of the people who'd perished. (and you thought Berg's doctrines were strange) Their doctrines are so bizarre that in case viewers think that Stone and Parker are making this stuff up they run a disclaimer at the bottom of the screen that says "Scientologists actually believe this."
Stone and Parker anticipate a legal backlash from the litigious Cruise and his "church" and so in the episode's end credits they list every person as either John Smith or Jane Smith.
