The links when clicked led to dud pages, or eveywhere else of no importance. No one was benefitting from clicked ads, etc, and no one was directly advertised. Everything was a lame generic blog, like you say, where other sites have been hijacked. In our case however, the key words made it very suspicious. Some of them were things only we'd know, as insiders, but I can't talk about that here. It's hard to imagine a motive for hijacking a site when nobody benefits, other than visitors get drawn away and confused if they actually follow the links.
