Researcher:

Thanks for your concern, and for your suggestions--I will look into that this week or next, as my schedule permits.

And, if I do make contact with Stephen, I promise to be careful. Here's a caveat for him, though, if he happens to read these boards:

I joined in '71, the same year I competed in a national Tae Kwon Do tourney and took fifth. The guy I usually beat in class took first.

After I left TF Independence Day of 1974, I also practiced Go Jo Ryu, Hapkido (the "Billy Jack" bone-breaking art--I defended once against three drunks in a parking lot & dislocated the left elbow, the left kneecap, and nearly the larynx of the one with a knife & knocked out the other two with crescent kicks to the head) and a "new" form of Chinese Gung Fu by an actual RELATIVE of Bruce Lee in Mexico City, similar to Lee's "Jeet Kune Do", called "Shintoshi".

In the movie "Enter the Dragon", Lee uttered the words, "Boards (or in Stephen's case, doors) don't hit BACK" to a would-be Karate bad-ass.

Stephen probably would need to fear me, not the other way around, in most situations.

I'm 6'3" and weigh around 270 lbs. I take my martial arts very seriously, and view some situations as those in which I AM a "Romans 13 representative", like defending the weak, women and children; the usual "Boy Scout" kind of stuff".

I've taken a punch or kick rather than fighting back, and view my MIND as the most effective martial weapon. "He who strikes the first blow has run out of ideas".

I only have two cheeks to turn, though, and after that "your ass is mine", if I cannot persuade you, verbally at first, to stop being violent. Then I believe in righteous efficient violence, or a OT-type "righteous force".

Other situations might require instant action with no words; been there, too.

My wife Mignonne and I are also dead shots with a pistol, and would only draw it to actually kill.

Real Martial fighting is for defending, disarming, maiming and killing, ONLY when absolutely necessary, and ONLY in that order.

I pray to stay OUT of those situations.
