Yes, that's an important difference. TF's motives are quite different than those of former members who are only trying to get on with their lives.

I had to do something similar after I left to account for so many missing years without revealing I had been in a cult before I was ready to do so. I had taught English in 3 different countries while in TF so I was able to use that to account for most of the gaps in my employment history. Yes, I had to stretch the time I actually spent teaching, but that's quite different than saying I was something I wasn't. In my first resume I even included that I had worked in a boarding school for missionaries in Japan (the HCS). But I never held myself out to be something I wasn't, and as soon as I began to accumulate a few different part-time jobs when I returned to school, I was able to exclude most details of my past life.
