Sometime in 1976 there were immigration raids on Family homes in Australia. Its code name was 'operation southern cross'. All the homes were raided at exactly the same time. They were trying to find Americans who had overstayed their visas and were living here illegally. From what I remember the Family had suffered some adverse publicity earlier in the year and this could have been the catalyst for the Feds raid.
I just started thinking about this and wonders if anyone knows about this. Is it of interest to xfamily editors? I know a couple of Americans got deported.
