Not all idealism is bad. We were deceived but we also allowed ourselves to be deceived. BOth at different degrees. Some enjoyed the benefits it until they could not live with them anymore. It is a complex matter. Benefits come in many shapes and forms, as we all know, but so do the pain and the shame we had to endure. At one point one side gives.
And then there is positive idealism. I still believe in it. Not everything I see is through my eyes of cynicism. I am sure most of us are that way. I subscribe to the opinion that our idealism didn't suffer as much as our trust.
