If something negative happens to me and I carry it as a burden on my heart so that whenever it is mentioned it hurts, I consider that I have more right than you to tell it.
If you decide to tell it, it will hurt me. Then you become responsible of the pain it causes in me.
It is not a legalistic view but ethical. It would be ethically wrong for you to tell my story without my permission.
It is even worse if you profit by it.
