I like that idea--I'd like to see more diagnostic evidence about her available. It would help to have more detailed information about behaviors and thought processes that suggest mental illness.
Did you ever wonder what sort of psychological problems would prompt someone to live her entire adult life in seclusion, to the point that she's even isolated from most of the people living in her household? Also secluded to the point that she makes no public statements about her son's murder/suicide? That is very unusual adaptive behavior & highly suggestive of mental illness.
Berg was much more out there with his pathology than Zerb. Zerby's extreme shyness is very important diagnostic evidence, but it also makes observation more difficult. The Robot is a telling ML, but it takes a little work to sort out the essential character traits Berg was describing.
