I have to admit to feeling a bit skeptical about the capacity of the Dr. Phil Show to handle this story with much depth and insight, but I applaud you and Susie for at least trying to give the producers a clue about what sorts of things the segment should cover. It would be nice if they got beyond the sensationalism of FFing, for example, and discussed issues of power, domination & control in TFI.
As much as I'm annoyed at times by Jim LaMattery's online behavior, I also have to applaud him (and his family members) for getting the issue of Family abuse survivors on a major commerical media program like Dr. Phil. One thing positive I can say about Jim--he has a very effective television presence, and I think people will perceive him as a warmer, more authentic personality than official Family spokespersons like Borowik, whose television persona comes across like the Ice Queen.
Anyhoo, I've got my fingers crossed that this will be an informative and productive media exposure for the Family's abuse survivors-- Let's not forget about posting the air time & date when it's announced.
