According to what I learned in AA, insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and thinking you'll get different results each time.
Maria is the perfect codependent, and I've often thought that codependents are sicker than the drunks & addicts they need so desperately to create chaos and a general state of unhappiness in their lives.
Been there, done that--how many years now?
Maria's codependent insanity is this: She knows if she keeps doing the same thing over and over again, she'll keep getting the same results--terrified followers who lack the courage to change, and children too young to escape their captivity in the Family's paranoid fantasyland.
Well, courage is just fear that's said it's prayers. (Another AA saying.) Seems to me that people in TFI are getting tired of this broken record, where the voice of their Mosquito Queen is heard more and more as a dull, annoying buzzzzzz.
