Anybody know where "Ben and Ruth" are these days? I appreciated them in my last days in the cult. I heard from an FG who was my only friend that they once told the adults at a meeting to be more considerate of the SGs. They told them that if we had "battles" after working all day then an FG asked us to take care of their kids so they could chill in the evening, to be understanding. They said "remember, you probably had a youth before these responsibilities, and they did not."
It seems her older children, who were older than the first SG's born into the group, had left The Family early on so they realized that people had their limits. Yet they participated in my subjugation. I am reminded of a quote about slavery expressing how the glimmers of human kindness became bright beacons in such an abusive environment, taking on increased impact due to the very nature of the situation.
Does anybody know if that Ben is the Johnny that Rick wrote to?
