I can't help but wonder where you get that info. It seems to be very poor research leading to that statement that "usually" they are the same woman, poor and battered. You may want to check with your local women's center because battered women come from every strata of societal standing, poor to ultra rich.
The same can be said for victims of child molestation, it occurs in the wealthiest and in the poorest families and I certainly cannot say poverty means it happens more, anymore than I can say battery happens more for the poor.
