I totally agree that it's an individual thing. Each person needs to go through the process of asking the questions of him/herself, and if they feel so inclined, to share their perspectives with other survivors.
I liked your comment about the lack of real dialog between 1st & 2nd gen exers. So true. There seems to be a lot of reactivity. My guess would be that both generations of exers will need to mature, but that over time there will be an increased understanding--particularly from the 2nd gen.
If you think about the rejection of our parents that 1st gen engaged in, it's like we've reaped the harvest of the original generation gap that gave rise to our countercultural quest.
