In the spring of 1987, there was persecution in the Philippines and a mass exodus of people. A lot of them came to Japan, including Mary Mom. They all landed at the HCS, which at the time was known as MBH. During the summer, all leadership lost their jobs, due to various sins and out-of-it-ness. You know, they were always having these shake-ups every 2-3 years. Paul Peloquin was just off the hot seat (remember there were a bunch of FSMs about his lessons?) and Ike and Gary also came. They held a series of meetings at the HCS in the early fall and I believe these were called the Japan Leadership Meetings but I'm not sure. This was when Gary shared the new vision of splitting from your mate if you felt you weren't growing or if you wanted a change, regardless of how the other felt.
Shortly after this, Paul started setting up the HCS. Abi came from the Philippines with Lisa and a bunch of others to set up the school and it was shortly after Christmas of 1987 that Berg & Zerby & their crew arrived at the White House.
