I don't believe the lower rank and file believe that it is "LIES". I think they believe that the so-called "Law of Love" allowed for horrors to happen in the family and further, that in their heads they believe those allowances were of God but they had to stop to protect themselves from "persecution". Well, and PROSECUTION too.
I believe the mind[warped]set was and is to deny the truth to protect the Leader. I cannot think of one person who they believe, while IN tHE CULT is from GOD regardless of how sordid it gets. Anyone who has truly left the family and looks back can see what they lived in from a different perspective than they did when IN. After all, the LJR and Maria's teachings on it or comments in the lit section here, to youth, are obscene and criminal in many places. It is no far leap to realize that something is wrong in Dodge but wrong=right in the family and conscience=devil while in as well.
It is not a leap to realize these things happened.
What would help is to understand the mindset that existed while in versus the mindset when a person gets out and looks back at the damage. There is no question that Claire is LYING. Perhaps the media has to throw her "LIES!" comment in there but the article speaks for itself with corroborating literature complete with pics.
I think what matters most is people that have been so hurt want the general public to know the truth and to be vindicated in the mind of the general public. Scientology would do well to dis-associate with TFI regarding any collective garden variety cult efforts to protect "New Religious Movements". After all, Scientology is strange but they don't teach molesting/incesting children and turning women out as hookers and never have. It is the CRIMINAL ELEMENT that is EVIDENT in THE FAMILY that makes it NOT simply a "New Religious Movement". People would hardly call Charles Manson's followers or movement a "New Religious Movement". I think it is a SHAM at best for a criminal highly destructive cult to have hired "professors" to speak highly of them or make them seem just a edgy bit of alternative society.
