"An alternate juror, Cheri Baldacchino, said Tuesday that she might have considered voting for a conviction. "I believe he was telling the truth, or what he perceived the truth to be," she said of the accuser. On Tuesday, Mr. Jackson stayed out of sight with his family at his ranch in the hills of the Santa Ynez Valley, about 35 miles southeast of the site of his trial. Only about a half-dozen fans remained outside the compound's gate Tuesday morning, although a media contingent of more than 200 still lined the rural road."
